QR Codes and Geo-Caching
QR codes and geo-caching are some trends in mobile phone usage that have risen due to the ubiquitous nature of cameras and GPS technology on newer devices. QR codes specifically are posed to become a de facto standard for "checking-in" at locations, advertising referrals and many uses that are yet to be invented. Geo-caching, too, is still in an "early adopter" phase, but is also poised to benefit form the increasing simplicity of the technology needed to participate. Ultimately, these technologies help bridge the gap between the physical and online worlds and are just getting started!
This module is a guest lecture and fulfills the "web trends" component of the syllabus.
