The Long Tail
We often see examples of digital technology and the Internet transforming industries, institutions and cultures, but without an explanation of what ties all this disruption and new opportunity together. This is where the theory of The Long Tail and the bestselling book by Chris Anderson come into play. In it he outlines how the economic model of distribution via the Internet is the undercurrent of so much new economic activity, as well as the transformation and shifting of existing economic activity.
This module is basically a book report on the theory, lessons from each chapter, and the two imperatives / nine rules of benefitting from The Long Tail.
