I listened to "NPR: 01-21-2009 Technology" and was interested to hear how new technology (like the "4D traffic map") is being applied to traffic control. With the inauguration, getting millions of people out of Washington was a difficult task, but it was made easier with the 4D map (the fourth dimension being time, because it showed traffic in real time).

I'm not surprised that this technology was developed. it's not unlikely to think that all cars in the future will have a wireless chip (or alternative device) that sends their location to a centralized traffic control center. Drivers would then view real-time traffic conditions on their car's monitor (or on a heads-up-display on the windshield or some other device).

If Web 2.0 is based on participatory culture, I believe Web 3.0 will be based on data everywhere, anytime, interconnected and shared.
